The Hardest Thing About Being A Lawyer

A few of our more soul-less neighbors have started giving Husband and a hard time about letting our dog walk in the grassy area between the sidewalk and the street.

Having been to law school, I know that this is public property or at least private property with a public easement running through it. So even though the polite thing to do would be to try to direct the dog away from these areas, or walk to the other end of the street and let him use the only scrubby patch of dirt-grass that isn’t in front of an apartment building, or even just smile and nod and ignore them, what I really want to do is jump up and down waving The Law in their faces and yell “but it’s my RIGHT to let my dog crap in front of your building!”

Yes, that’s right. The hardest thing about being a lawyer is not acting like a total jerk.

Well, I’m pretty sure a total jerk would purposely have the dog crap in front of their apartment building ever day…without ever yelling.
